Bringing in the low-end this weekend we have this Gibson Victory Artist Bass from 1981… oh yeah! It’s a bit of a departure from Gibson’s previous bass designs. The Nashville plant had just opened and they wanted a new series to offer out of the new shop. It comes with 2 stock Series VIIIB humbuckers with switchable passive or active electronics from designer/engineer Tim Shaw. Three-ply Maple neck with 24 fret rosewood fingerboard. Chunky Gibson TRI-4 wedge bridge. 2 volume and 1 tone control, pickup selector, series/parallel switch and an active/passive switch. Absolutely fantastic playability and overall good used condition with just a couple scratches and player’s wear.Notable 80s punkers that played the Standard, single pickup version of this bass are Greg Norton of Hüsker Dü and Krist Novoselic of Nirvana.
