New Tenor Guitar From Recording King

New Tenor Guitar From Recording King

Recording King’s new Tenor Guitar packs a wallop and is super fun to play. It’s new to their ‘Dirty 30s’ family of instruments that harken back to earlier eras of acoustic music. A smallish 000-size body and a 23″ scale length make it a comfy player. CrossLap bracing and bone nut and saddle gives your playing that pop!

Tenor guitars have four strings and are usually tuned in fifths similar to tenor banjo, mandola, or viola. Other tunings include baritone ukulele tuning, Irish or octave mandolin tuning and open tunings for slide.

The first tenor guitars start popping up in various hybrid forms in the 20s and by 1927 Gibson and Martin begin production of their acoustic guitar tenor models. Plectrum guitars were another related instrument of the 4 string variety, but with a longer scale length than the tenor. Between the 20s and 40s was the height of their popularity, but a renewed interest has taken hold this last decade.
